Sexy Beast

Hello to all. This is the Sexy Beast filling in for OJ. Although, I am not the Beast anymore ‘cause Luna and Mack said that my picture scared them, so I changed it for a bit. Anyway, Big Poppa is preparing for his EuroPimp tour, so I offered to fill in for him (even though he has single-handedly kept me from performing my job up to standard this week) Here is an overview from April 7th and 8Th from a band groupie point of view.

Friday night was the usual 80’s gig. I do not know what happened prior to me showing up around 11ish, and I am sure it is not important. Nigel “Juicy Fruit” must have noticed me when I hit the top of the stairs because I heard a “beast is in the house” comment before I even made it to the bar. I finally navigated my way thru the crowd to the front row where I met Luna and Mack- thanks for sharing your space with me, girls !! Ole Simon was not being he usual flirtatious self with the ladies, so he was not getting any free beer from the Beast. Plus, he pulled me up on stage to dance in the second set, which is a big no-no. Anyway, I partied a little too much (who- me???) and had way too much fun. I appreciate Bobby NOT posting the pic of me that he took on Friday night up here. He does not want to get me killed…My apologies also go out to him for making smart-ass comments like “Quit looking down my shirt” and trying to make him screw up on his bass playing. GOOD JOB BOBBY! All in all, it was a fun night. Although, I did not get invited back to the Holiday Inn to party with the band and all the strippers that they took back with them. I must need to brush up on my pole dancing skills.

Saturday afternoon, I heard the boys played a Dock Martins set at Erskine College for their spring fling opening up for Josh Kelly. I don’t much about it, but here are a few pictures from sound check courtesy of OJ.

Saturday night was the return of Stone Cold Fox. This was a really great thing, cause I have not seen them since November. I know they were all disappointed that I did not show up until close to midnight. Apparently, I made up for lost time by running up a $70 bar tab between 12 and 2. My apologies go out again to Jackie Diamond and Chest Rockwell for not including you in on the cocktails. I owe you two- plus, next time it is OJ and Rev. Rolos turn to feed ME alcohol. I had lots of friend there Sat night and of course spent all of my time right up front dancing. Although, once again I partied a little too much and woke up with a headache………and maybe an unexplained bruise or two. OJ is lucky that he was a wuss and headed back to Hotlanta right after the show ‘cause I heard the other boys had another huge stripper party at the Inn- once again, I guess I need to brush up on my pole dancing. I am disappointed to say that they will not be back in the wonderful town of Greenvegas for a couple months- although I do not know why because we are the COOLEST. I will have to find a new band to stalk in the meantime.

THANKS FOR THE GREAT WEEKEND BOYS!!

2 4 1

Since I’m a week behind, I thought I would just put this past weekends gig and the weekend before that all together in the same blog.

March 24th & 25th
Augusta, Ga Wild Wing
Café

First of all, special thanks and congratulations to Matt and Heather. Thanks, for Matt playing Friday night in Augusta. Congrats for having their baby.

Since I wasn’t there on Friday, I’m not really gonna say much about it. I heard it went well.

As far as Saturday goes…… It was the debt of the 90’s in Augusta. We weren’t really sure what to expect there with the 90’s, not to mention that Chad was not playing with us. Normally, that isn’t an issue. Rodney is a great fill in, but with all of still learning arrangements and such, it made us a little tiny bit nervous. However, it happens that this material is right up Rodney’s alley, so he actually led the way on a lot of tunes.

Once we hit, the crowd was totally in to it. Not unlike in Greenville and Alpharetta, it was more singing along than dancing, but they loved it non-the-less. We even had a birthday party, Elaine turned 53. And Elaine stayed till the end!

So far the 90’s seems to be working. We still haven’t played it in Suwanee or Asheville yet. I think Suwanee is coming up in May. Nothing, on the calendar yet for Asheville and the 90’s. But we’ll keep ya posted.

April 1st APRIL FOOL’S DAY
Suwanee, GA Wild Wing Café

Last night we were back at home in Suwanee. IT was good to see some familiar faces that we haven’t seen in awhile. Good to see you Dave! As always, it was a fun time had by all.

It was good to have Jackie Diamond back behind the kit. He’d been on a 3 week vacation/tour. He had to go to Brooklyn for some R&R, then to Vegas to judge the Ben Vareen Invitational dance contest. Either way, we’re glad he’s back in action.

Another great thing to see was the return of Rolo’s fro. Lately he has been doing the hat thing, but last night he kicked it old school.

Next week, the return of Stone Cold Fox to Greenville. That’s right the Fox hasn’t been there since December. Should be a groovin’ time.

Till then,

OJJ
