Introducing The Dock Martins

Greenville, SC Wild Wing Café 2/26 & 2/27 2006

We were back in Greenville this weekend. Friday night was Electric Boogaloo and The White Leppard Crue, Saturday was the debut of our new 90’s show.

For me personally, Friday was a bit hectic. I was up late the night before and had to work my day job all day Friday, so I was pretty tired for the drive to G’Vegas. To add to this, I didn’t get on the road until 7:15 or so. Although this was plenty of time to get there and get set up, I still prefer to be on the road no later than 6:00 or so.

Once there I was able to get set up pretty quick and I even had time to sneak in a bite to eat.

The show on Friday night, as always, was great. The crowd was into it and so were we. With The Slippery guys doing a White Leppard Crue show in midtown Atlanta every Wednesday starting this week, we haven’t been doing the costume change in Atlanta. WE still play the songs, but we do it all as Electric Boogaloo. So doing the Crue this weekend was kind of fun. I almost forgot how fun it is to be Bobby Mullet.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Saturday afternoon started with a trip to Clemson for Chad and I to pick up a friend that was there. We then headed to Bertolo’s in Downtown G’Vegas for some pizza. Pretty greasy pie that you have to dab with a napkin, but it rocks.

After that, we headed to Ear Shot Records, a pretty cool record store. I ended up picking up the new Sergio Mendes and the new Ron White (they call me tater-salad) cd’s. I also picked up a really cool box set called The Funk Box. A box set of great grooves, in a purple velvet box.

We then headed back to the room for a quick run through of some of the Dock Martin songs. Three long hours later, we headed to the club.

Now, I won’t lie, I was a tiny bit concerned about the turnout, but once we got there I was pleasantly surprised. There were several friends of Stone Cold Fox in attendance. At first I was concerned that they were coming expecting SCF, but they all said that they have been reading this blog and that they were coming to check out the new show and to support us. Shane from the Tiki Hut was even in the house! It was also good to see Mr. & Mrs Freddie “Boom Boom” Washington in the house. And as always, I appreciate Freddie doing some gigs for me, giving me the opportunity for a weekend off here and there.

When we hit the stage, the first set went rather smooth. The crowd reaction was great. A lot more sing-alongs than I thought there would be. During the break the crowd hung out and stayed for the 2nd set. The second half went well too. My favorite song of the 90’s show, Man In The Box, was in that one. However, so far the song that seems to be the big favorite is Song 2 by Blur. “wooohooo!”

There are some things that will need to be tweaked, but so far I think we have a pretty good show to add to the mix.

This coming weekend finds us doing the 90’s and 80’s in Alpharetta. Hope to see ou there.

I think I will call him Mini Me!

Suwanee, Ga Wild Wing Café 2/17 & 2/18 2006

Not much to say except that once again it was good to be back home in Suwanee. The place was packed both nights. Friday night was Stone Cold Fox and Saturday night, Electric Boogaloo.

A couple of things to mention, we had a special guest on Friday night.

Also Saturday night we tested Song 2 by Blur in preparing for our 90’s show. It went over great. I think the 90’s show will be a blast. We actually got together at my house for a short rehearsal on Saturday night. We will be debuting the Dock Martin’s on Saturday at our Home Away From Home, The Greenville Wing. It should be a rockin’ time. More detail on the DMs in an upcoming blog.

I actually made some progress on the SCF Entertainment site the other night. I hope to upload and publish the gallery section of the site as well as the sections about the different versions of the band in the week or so. After that I’ll start working on the interactive part of the site. (i.e. the forum).

Special Thanks to Lisa, Kristin-Marie, Jaye, Jeff, Niki, Robin, Todd and anyone else I haven’t mentioned. Also very special thanks to Shannon and the staff at the Wing for taking good care of us all weekend.

Till next time……..

Malls & Darts

Alparetta Wild Wing 2/3 & 2/4/2006

This weekend found us at the Wing in Alpharetta, GA. Not as close to home as Suwanee, but the next best thing.

Friday was nuts. Stone Cold Fox was open for business and everybody knew it. Being the month of love, I thought I would bring out some of my bitches, so I brought the Orange Juliets with me, LaQuiesha Kaufman and Miss. Mary Mack. They danced all night. We even got LaQuiesha on stage to sing Last Dance with us. She rocked. I even think Rolo was worried about his job security after that one. Hahaha.

The bar was running a special on some new drinks that they added to their menu. Two drinks named after us, The Stone Cold Shot and the Electric UVBloo.

As the night progressed, Rolo and I had some ladies flashing us in hopes that we would let them wear our hats. They both got a negative from both of us, but they still flashed us anyway.

Looks like we got quite a few pictures that night, Mary Mack had her digital camera with her and she took a lot of snaps…both nights. Now if we can only get our webmaster on the ball and get him to finish the site, we’ll be in business. He and I are very close, so I think I might be able to kick him in the ass a little bit.

Saturday afternoon, I had to go to the mall to complete my 90’s costume. I was reminded of how much I hate malls, especially on Saturdays. The good side was that I got the rest of my costume. After that a handful of us met up at the Norcross Tavern, for some darts and nachos grande. That place is great. I really need to bone up on my dart skills. I used to be pretty damn good, now Jackie seems to own me in every game we play.

Saturday night all of us in the band met at the hotel across from The Wing in Jakie’s room and changed into our new 90’s costumes so we could take pictures. The photographer was none other than our boss, Jason, aka Lamont DiCarlo. Most of you probably know Jason as the lead singer for Slippery When Wet, The Ultimate Bon Jovi Tribute. In case you didn’t know, he is also our manager and boss. Jason also stuck around for the 1st Boogaloo set.

Speaking of which, the Boogaloo show went rather well. The mix seemed to be better than the night before, and that mix was right on time. Palmer is by far one of the coolest sound guys that we work with. It turns out that he recorded both nights, so I am looking forward to hear that. I think Chest Rockwell was able to get a copy of all of it before he left.

So other than hangin’ out at the wing both nights till all hours of the morning, that is about it. Next weekend we’re in Augusta. I won’t be there, but Freddie “Boom Boom” Washington will be there to keep the boys under control.

As far as the 90’s show goes, I will be posting something on that in the next couple of weeks. Our First show is in 3 weeks in Greenville, followed by a weekend in Alpharetta. Hope to see you then. And I hope to see you at the Stone Cold Fox show in Suwanee, in two weeks.

Later peeps!!
