Butterbean & The River Bottom Nightmare Band

Thursday night I sat in with Foxxy Cleopatra (in Boogaloo character) at the Alpharetta Wing and this weekend we returned to Asheville. Here is how it all went down.......

Thursday 03/01/2007 - Foxxy Cleopatra - Wild Wing Cafe - Alpharetta, GA

Once again, I played with Foxxy on Big Entertainment Thursday. It was a good show. The weather was horrible al day and night. There were tornado warnings all over the place and I think a lot of people were staying home for the evening. None the less, the crowd that was there was rockin. They danced all night and I received several comments from people saying that Foxxy was their favorite SCF band on Thursdays.

As always, Luna Ashlee (Coco Bean) did a great job. And as always it's always fun to play with Marty (Chachi) and Rodney (Craven).

Friday 03/02/2007 - Electric Boogaloo - Wild Wing Cafe - Asheville, NC

Friday night we rolled into Asheville. The weather was great all day Friday, but it started getting a little colder as I was driving up the mountain. Once I arrived at the Wing, I was greeted by several of the Asheville staff saying "Welcome Back". I then realized it had been December since we last played there, and November since I personally played there.

The line up this weekend was myself, Sean, Chad and Jeffrey. Jeffrey if fairly new. He's been filling in for Richard a lot in Augusta and he's done a few Foxxy gigs.

Friday was a slow night. But the folks that were there seemed receptive.

Saturday was a different story.

Saturday 03/03/2007 - Stone Cold Fox - Wild Wing Cafe - Asheville, NC

Saturday we met up with DJ Mark and his gang at the Grove Park Inn. They were in town for a tattoo. After that four of us in the band went to Cheeseburger In Paradise for dinner. Next to Ted's Montana Grill, the 2nd best burger I have ever had.

After that it was back to the hotel for a little while then to the gig. When I got there DJ Mark gave me a copy of Emmitt Otter's Jug Band Christmas on DVD. How awesome is that? He saw that I had the Riverbottom Nightmare Band on my myspace page, so he found the video on the Internet and got a couple of copies. I can't wait to watch it. I especially can't wait to take it home at Xmas time and show it to my niece and nephew so they can enjoy what I got to watch at Xmas when I was a wee lad. Mark, if you're reading this..... Thanks again.

The crowd tonight was much bigger than last night and the Dawg pound was in the house. Most of the night, the dance floor was full and Rolo had the crowd singing with him all night.

The funniest part of the night was the stage name we came up for Jeffrey. Lester "Butterbean" Rockwell. Butterbean! hahaha.

After the gig, Sean and I hit the road for Greenville where we were both gonna stay at our friend Katie's house. On the way there, Sean called me on the phone and we both agreed that we were wide awake and could possibly make it home. So after calling Katie and thanking her for the offer of staying there, and a stop for a coke, some water and some combos, I cranked up the XM and found Art Bell. It was a fairly easy ride and we made good time. About 10 miles from home I started getting pretty drowsy, but I rolled down the window and let the cold air hit my face and I made it. I hit the sack pretty hard and finally woke up around 2 today. Of course now my schedule is totally off. Work should be a doosy tomorrow.

next week........ Alpharetta & Suwanee.
