A Lozenge & A Pancake

Alpharetta, GA 3/3 & 3/4 2006 Wild Wing Café

This week found us back in the ATL area. As always Alpharetta was packed to the gills (whatever that really means).

Friday night, The Dock Martins made there debut in Alpharetta. The good news is that once again, a large group of Stone Cold Fox friends showed up to check us out. The bad news, Sean was in the hospital earlier in the week for laryngitis. When he got there he was feeling ok, but didn’t know how long his voice would hold out.

With the 80’s and the 70’s show, this usually isn’t a problem. We have enough songs in both of those that we can substitute for stuff that is easier to sing, or stuff that Chad or even Rich and I could sing. In the 90’s show, however, that is not the case. It’s a new show, so the songs that are in the list are the songs that we know.

To Sean’s (Stane) credit, he got through the first set pretty much unscathed. In fact, he nailed Creep once again. He really does a great job with that song. Personal Jesus also seemed to hit big that night.

Also, our friend Luna was in attendance and she came up and sang Hard To Handle, giving Sean a little but of a break. The 2nd set was good as well, but in the middle of Man In A Box, I heard his voice go. Somehow he managed to get through the rest of the night and everyone seemed to enjoy the new show. I think the Dock Martins will evolve into something special like Boogaloo and the Fox have over the years.

Special thanks to all the folks that came out on Friday to see the new show……Ashlee, Jeff Niki, Meester Todd, Robin, Bob, Sweet Mathew, Trever, Doh, and everyone else I may not have mentioned.

After the gig, obviously we were concerned about Sean’s voice, so we told Luna that we may need her to sing a good bit. We made a list of songs that she knows that we happen to kow. No worries. If needed she could do the whole night.

But Saturday, when we got there, Sean said he felt better and was gonna give it a shot. We restructured the song list a little bit and threw in some songs from the 90’s and 70’s sets. Luna Came up and sang a couple with Sean (Simon LeBone) and then did a couple by herself. The crowd really got off on that. Otherwise Sean’s voice wasn’t an issue all night. He was able to pull it off and he did a great job as usual. Hopefully this week he’ll get plenty of rest. Not only is it two nights of 80’s, but we’ll be in the Carolinas so we’ll be doing the White Leppard Crue show as well.

Special thanks to Tricia, Ellen, Katie and Ashlee for hangin’ out with us on Saturday night after the show.

This weekend we’ll be in Asheville, NC on Friday and North Charleston, SC on Saturday. Both nights are at Wild Wing Café. Both night Electric Boogaloo w/ The White Leppard Crue.

With that, next week’s blog will be by Bobby Mullett and the following week …….The return of Orange Julius Jackson.

Lastly, many have asked for our myspace address, not just the band ones but our personal ones as well. Here you go.
